You can have a once-in-a-lifetime experience trekking with endangered mountain gorillas in their native habitat at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The hike is strenuous but worthwhile because it ends with an hour of watching a habituated family of gorillas.
Located in southwestern Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a biodiverse UNESCO World Heritage site famous for protecting over half of the world’s mountain gorillas, as well as chimpanzees, monkeys, and many bird species. From Kampala, you may reach this site on the edge of the Albertine Rift by road or chartered airplane. Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
At 10:00 AM, after breakfast, your guide will get you from your Kigali hotel. Initiate a brief exploration of Kigali City. Stop by the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site if you are keen to learn more about the terrible history of Rwanda’s two genocides.
Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park after the trip; it is home to more than half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. The Virunga Region, which includes Mgahinga and Volcanoes National Parks, will be your route north. Musanze Town, at the foot of Volcanoes National Park, is a wonderful place to have lunch.
Get to the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by crossing the border at Cyanika. The route from Kisoro goes through a tropical rainforest after you pass the border. Rest at the luxurious lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest
At the lodge, breakfast is provided early. After breakfast, your guide will drive you to the park gates of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you can begin your hike to the mountain gorillas. We shall move forward with the packed lunch during the briefing, where the Rangers will go over the rules and regulations.
To locate the mountain gorillas, you will go on a trek into the jungle with the help of park rangers. The duration of gorilla tracking varies from two to eight hours, contingent on the specific gorilla family under observation.
You will have lunch at the lodge after the gorilla expedition. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its diverse flora and fauna, as well as its designation as a World Biosphere Reserve. This national park features a stunning blend of forests, grasslands, and waterways, making it the second largest in Uganda. A representative will meet you at the airport and escort you to the lodge. Please proceed to reserve a room at the Elephant Plains Lodge. Enjoy a meal in the lodge’s dining room.
Embark on an evening game drive around Queen Elizabeth National Park following your lunch. During a game drive in the park, one may encounter a diverse array of wildlife. Large felines such as lions and leopards belong to this classification, along with other substantial mammals. The game drive traverses grasslands characteristic of savannas.
