Who We Are
Rwenzori Trekking Safaris Ltd is a specialist trekking and adventure safari company based in Kampala, Uganda, dedicated to organizing professionally guided expeditions in the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.
Whether you plan to hike via the Kilembe Trail or the Central Circuit Trail, our experienced guides and safari consultants provide expert planning, safety-focused execution, and deep local knowledge to ensure a successful and rewarding mountain experience.
Our Experience & Expertise
Rwenzori Trekking Safaris Ltd. has guided hikers and climbers to the high peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains using authorized routes in Rwenzori Mountains National Park (Uganda) and, where applicable, Virunga National Park (Democratic Republic of Congo).
We work closely with Rwenzori Trekking Services (Uganda) and conservation partners such as the Virunga Foundation to design and operate trekking programs that are responsible, well-coordinated, and environmentally conscious.
Our guides are not theoretical instructors; every lead guide has summited and descended safely. Their advice is based on real conditions, real weather, and real mountain experience

Our Rwenzori Trekking Routes
Kilembe Trail
Starting from the town of Kilembe near Kasese, this route follows the dramatic Nyamwamba River Valley. It is longer and more demanding, typically taking 8–10 days to reach the summit, but it rewards trekkers with some of the most spectacular scenery in the Rwenzori range.
Central Circuit Trail
Beginning at Nyakalengija, this classic loop route passes the Mahoma and Mubuku river systems and provides excellent acclimatization. It is the most popular route for trekkers aiming to reach the foot of Margherita Peak and is widely regarded as the most complete Rwenzori trekking experience.
During the trek, accommodation is provided in mountain huts or camps, offering basic but well-maintained shelter from cold and rain. For shorter treks and pre-climb nights, simple lodgings are available near rivers in quiet natural settings.
Our support teams include trained guides, porters, and cooks who ensure safety, nutrition, and smooth daily operations throughout the trek.
